Cataracts are a medical condition of the eye in which the natural lens of the eye becomes cloudy or muddy. This leads to blurred vision and, in some cases, complete vision loss if not treated in a timely manner. Cataract surgery, known as phacoemulsification, is the most common method today. Phacoemulsification is performed using ultrasound waves to break down the cloudy lens, which is then aspirated from the eye. After that, the intraocular lens is inserted into the eye to restore vision.
