Each patient, who turns to the "Excimer" Eye Clinic for help, undergoes full diagnostic examination of his/her vision regardless of age or complaints. This is the only way to determine the smallest features of the visual system, identify the cause of vision problems, and select the appropriate treatment. An ophthalmologist chooses the method and technique of solving the problem and the treatment program on the individual basis, taking into account the patient's age, lifestyle, occupation, profession and expectations regarding the quality of vision.

The "Excimer" Eye Clinic makes advanced technologies of treating ophthalmologic diseases available to the residents of Ukraine. Today, the "Excimer" Eye Clinic employs the most advanced cataract treatment technique, ultrasonic phacoemulsification with femtolaser support. This is a new standard in cataract surgery which is a sparing, safe, and unprecedentedly precise procedure ensuring maximum standard of vision. The "Excimer" Eye Clinic was the first in Ukraine to introduce advanced methods for the correction of myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism, including a revolutionary, completely noncontact femtolaser vision correction technology.

The "Excimer" Eye Clinic is a family eye clinic. The conditions have been created here for the diagnosis and treatment of patients of all ages. Each age has its own peculiarities of the visual system and its own diseases, and as a multidisciplinary clinic, the "Excimer" Eye Clinic is able to help both very young children and their parents and grandparents. The hospital has a specialized department, the "Excimer" KIDS with an experienced pediatric ophthalmologist. There is a diagnostic unit for adults as well as refractive surgery and microsurgery department. One of the clinic's principles is to create a comfortable atmosphere, so that people don't feel like they are in a hospital, but rather feel comfortable and relaxed.

The "Excimer" Eye Clinic in Kiev was set up in 1999, and since its foundation it has focused on compliance with strict international standards, primarily in quality control. Microsurgical and laser equipment made by leading foreign companies and its supplementation is another important component guaranteeing the quality of ophthalmological services.

The high standard of the clinic would, of course, be unattainable without qualified ophthalmologists. It is their experience that has helped to create a multidisciplinary ophthalmology clinic, which has been providing high-tech care for over 17 years.

History of the clinic

• 1999

The "Excimer" Laser Vision Correction Center was set up in Kiev in Malopodvalnaya Street.

• 2000

The first outpatient cataract operations in Ukraine was performed in the "Excimer" Eye Clinic.

• 2001

The "Excimer" Eye Clinic moved to new premises at 5B, Dimitrova St.

A pediatric department was established at the "Excimer" Eye Clinic.

Outpatient pediatric surgery became available in Ukraine for the first time.

• 2002

The "Excimer" Eye Clinic in Kiev was awarded by the government of Ukraine with the Decree "For Achievements in Labour".

• 2003

The first outpatient vitreous surgeries in Ukraine was performed in the "Excimer" Eye Clinic.

• 2004

The "Excimer" Eye Clinic launched its second "Excimer" laser VISX StarS4, applied aberrometric analysis techniques, and started using multifocal artificial intraocular lenses for abdominal surgery.

• 2005

The "Excimer" Eye Clinic was repeatedly awarded with the Highest Accreditation Category of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

• 2006

New equipment for laser vision correction was applied; Epi-lasik technique, unique for Ukraine, was implemented; aspherical lenses were used for cataract surgery for the first time.

The "Excimer" KIDS Specialty Clinic for Children's Ophthalmology was set up.

• 2007

"Excimer" Eye Clinic for adults was opened after reconstruction.

• 2008

The clinic widely used phakic lenses produced by the Swiss company STAAR (new options for correcting vision in patients with high degrees of myopia, hyperopia).

The "Excimer" Eyeglasses and Contact Correction Room was opened at the "Excimer" Eye Clinic.

• 2009

The Expert Committee of the Ministry of Health Care of Ukraine awarded the "Excimer" Eye Clinic with the Higher Accreditation Category for the third time.

• 2010

The "Excimer" Eye Clinic was the first in Ukraine to start using Lutsentis, a new drug for of age-related macular degeneration treatment .

• 2011

The "Excimer" Eye Clinic was the only certified clinic in Ukraine to implant Crystalens accommodating intraocular lens, which may be recommended not only for cataract treatment, but also for treatment of age-related hyperopia (presbyopia).

The "Excimer" Eye Clinic was the first in Ukraine to successfully implant the new artificial lenses AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR® Toric IOL (Acrysof® IQ ART) providing patients with high quality near and far vision without the need for optical correction and also compensating for corneal astigmatism.

A new method of keratoconus treatment, Cross Linking, became available at the "Excimer" Eye Clinic in Kiev which allows to stabilize keratoconus progression, stop thinning of cornea and prevent the necessity for cornea transplantation.

"Excimer" Eye Clinic now offers a unique corneal pathology service called keratoplasty to restore the shape and function of the cornea.

• 2012

orthokeratology (night vision correction or Refractive Corneal Therapy (CRT) with Paragon lenses) for myopia and astigmatism treatment was set up in the "Excimer" Eye Clinic in Kiev.

• 2013

The "Excimer" Eye Clinic applied a new Femto-LASIK technique - a unique solution for myopia, hyperopia or astigmatism, and an ideal option for patients with a thin cornea, complicated vision conditions or intolerance to other laser correction methods. The correction was performed completely non contact, allowing to achieve the highest visual performance.

• 2014

The "Excimer" Clinic began implanting innovative, high-tech trifocal intraocular lenses after removal of the lens for therapeutic or refractive purposes. This artificial lens, unlike previously used multifocal lenses, provides good vision not only for near vision but also better vision for medium and far distances, especially at night, which allows the eyeglass-free navigation at any distance and in conditions of varying light levels.

The "Excimer" Eye Clinic started to use innovative filtering phakic lenses for correction of complex refractive anomalies, which in contrast to the lenses used earlier do not require prior laser operations.

The clinic had specially trained specialists of all levels (doctors, optometrists, mid-level medical personnel, managers and administrators) who, after completing their training, became employees of the "Excimer" -Odessa Eye Clinic. After the opening of this clinic, the best specialists of the Kiev clinic worked with their Odessa colleagues, helping them ensure high world standards of eye care, characteristic of the "Excimer" clinics from the very first day of their work.

• 2015

In order to achieve the highest possible quality of vision for patients, the "Excimer" Eye Clinic decided to implant only intraocular lenses with aspheric optics from the world's best manufacturers when replacing the lens.

In order to correct complex refractive anomalies, the "Excimer" Eye Clinic started using innovative filtering phakic lenses, which, unlike the lenses used previously, did not require prior laser surgery.

• 2017

The "Excimer" Clinic introduced the most advanced and effective method of cataract surgery - using a femtosecond laser. The most important stages of surgery were performed in a virtually non-contact, gentle manner, minimizing the impact of ultrasound on the structures of the eye and reducing the recovery period. The new cataract treatment was unprecedented in its precision, maximum possible improvement of visual characteristics and stable and predictable result. Unequalled thoroughness of operation was ensured by a unique femtosecond laser system LenSx developed specially for cataract surgery by Alcon (USA).

The introduction of progressive treatment was also supported by the pricing policy: for "Excimer" Clinic patients, femtosecond cataract extraction was available at the price of the usual surgery. One of the principles of our work is to contribute to the implementation of the world standards of eye disease treatment in Ukrainian medicine.
